What the War Pigs did not know is that the Flappus movement had already splintered into a number of factions. One of the most prominent was led by Marcy, who argued that the scriptures were quite clear: Flappus was a chicken.
While he may have CHOSEN to manifest as a Pelican in "Rook 5:12" and a Crow in "The Book of Wings", it was clear from other, more subtle references that his true form was that paragon of birds that Marcy herself exemplified.
And so she waited for her rivals to pass, camouflaged as a rock. Then she would come forth with the pecking and the horror.
